Swedish Massage Therapy

Swedish, also known as Classic Massage Therapy is an alternative involving the application of effleurage, petrissage and tapping, using long, fluid strokes and light to firm touch to establish a healthy flow of energy within the body. It is based on a modern understanding of anatomy and physiology, and is performed on a massage table with either oil or lotion.

Swedish massage is one of the most common types of massage therapy. It's often used to relax you, relieve stress and relieve pain. Swedish massage often involves rubbing, kneading, stroking and tapping your muscles. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction. Through Swedish Massage any blockages in nerve and blood supply can be released, and your circulation is boosted which enables your body to heal itself.

Swedish massage involves long strokes using light-to-firm pressure. This style generally provides a more relaxing experience, but the pressure may not be enough for some people. In contrast, deep tissue massage applies much more pressure to release tension deep within the muscles and fascia.

Swedish Massage is particularly beneficial for the relief of stress, tension, depression and anxiety. It also rebalances and boosts your immune system, improves your sleep, flushes the body of toxins, and generally boosts energy levels. However it can also do so much more.
My clients have told me they have experienced improvements in these following conditions/aliments:
– Arthritis and joint pain
– Digestive health
– Headaches and migraines
– Muscle aches and pains
– Stress and anxiety
– Respiratory Health
– Sleep disorders and insomnia

No. Therapists are not medically trained. If you are feeling unwell you should seek advice from a medical expert. Swedish Massage treatments can help with certain ailments and conditions once they are diagnosed. Please note that Swedish Massage is a complementary health therapy. It works alongside conventional medicine and shouldn’t be used on its own as an alternative.

The number of treatments you will need depends on your ailment or condition, and what you are hoping to achieve. If you are focused on a specific health issue, I would recommend that you have sessions two weeks apart or weekly for a month, then monthly as a maintenance programme. If you are having treatments to promote general relaxation and health, then I would suggest one session a month. However, the frequency of treatments are entirely up to you and your own personal preference

After booking your first appointment, we will automatically forward you the consent form including the health questionnaire. This form needs to be completed and signed prior to arrival at our clinic for your appointment. After reviewing your health questionnaire we apply the most appropriate massage medium application on your record card and tailor the session to your exact needs.
